The No Surprises Act & Your Right to a “Good Faith Estimate”
Under federal law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using
insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or
services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and clinic fees.
  • Betterclinix will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical
service or item. You can also ask us, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you
    schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute
    the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your
right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit
    www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Insurance Policy: Betterclinix is strictly a fee-for-service / cash-pay clinic. We do not accept or
bill commercial insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid directly. We can provide you with a “Superbill” upon request, which
you may submit to your insurance carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We cannot guarantee that your
insurance company will reimburse you for Ketamine infusion therapy.

Patient safety is our highest priority at Betterclinix. Our clinical team consists of strictly credentialed medical professionals who monitor you continuously during your treatment. To ensure a safe and effective experience, all patients must adhere to the following protocols.

Pre-Infusion Guidelines:

  • Fasting: Do not eat solid foods for [X hours, usually 4-6] hours before your scheduled appointment. Clear liquids may be consumed up to 2 hours before your appointment.
  • Medications: Continue taking your prescribed medications unless explicitly instructed otherwise by our medical team during your intake consultation.

Strict Transportation Policy:

  • No Driving: Patients are strictly prohibited from driving or operating heavy machinery for at least 24 hours following a Ketamine infusion.
  • Designated Driver: You must have a trusted adult drive you home after your appointment. Rideshares (Uber/Lyft) or taxis are only permitted if you are accompanied by a trusted adult companion. We reserve the right to cancel your appointment if safe transportation is not arranged.

Medical Exclusions (Contraindications): Ketamine therapy is highly effective, but it is not safe for everyone. You may not be a candidate for treatment if you have:

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • Unstable heart disease or recent cardiovascular events.
  • A history of schizophrenia, active psychosis, or mania.
  • Active substance use disorder.
  • Pregnancy or active breastfeeding. Our medical providers conduct a thorough medical and psychiatric screening to determine your eligibility and safety for this treatment.

FDA “Off-Label” Use Disclaimer: Ketamine is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a sole anesthetic agent for diagnostic and surgical procedures. However, the use of intravenous (IV) Ketamine for the treatment of psychiatric disorders—including Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and bipolar depression—is considered “off-label.” This means that while extensive clinical research and real-world evidence support its efficacy for these conditions, the FDA has not formally approved IV Ketamine specifically for mental health treatments.

No Guarantee of Results: While many patients experience significant relief from their symptoms following Ketamine infusion therapy, individual results vary. Betterclinix does not guarantee a cure or specific outcome for any medical or psychiatric condition. Ketamine therapy is most effective when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes ongoing psychiatric care and psychotherapy.

Potential Risks & Side Effects: Ketamine is generally well-tolerated in the clinical setting, but side effects can occur. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Mild to moderate dissociation (a feeling of detachment from reality).
  • Transient increases in blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Dizziness, blurred vision, or grogginess. Our clinical team utilizes continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring to manage and mitigate these risks during your infusion.

Betterclinix is an outpatient infusion clinic and is not equipped to handle acute psychiatric emergencies outside of our scheduled treatment sessions.
